What will Architecture look like in 100 years?

The world will a be a very interesting place to live in in the future. The four important factors for development, improvement and growth of the world will be quite challenging.
 The four important factors are Global warming, Technology and Environmentally-Sustainable (zero energy) methods of construction, Lack of land and Population explosion.

1. Global warming

Global warming is one of the major talked about topics nowadays. We Architects, whether we agree or not, are also indirectly responsible for this cause. As it is an issue which has a lot of concern regarding the future of the world, it will a great challenge to design and adopt Eco-friendly methods of construction with various advanced technology and methods being invented. We need to design very carefully to accommodate this burning issue.

2. Technology

Technology is getting so advanced these days that we are all losing the basic essence of life and the beauty of human relationships with each other. With technology developing rapidly, architecture is also advancing with newer design softwares. Reduced time required to design a building, Eco-enabling softwares, designing fluid structures and  dedication given to small details is just amazing.

3. Environmentally-Sustainable (zero energy)

People nowadays are opting for zero energy buildings or houses which are environmentally sustainable. It’s more challenging for an architect to build these kind of buildings as it requires a lot of study and planning. This kind of construction involves eco-friendly methods and materials for construction, and it also incorporates landscapes with green walls. This way of construction and designing is Green Architecture.

4. Lack of land and population explosion

These two factors are directly connected to each other and require a lot of planning and study. It’s important for an Architect to very carefully utilize the given space for planning and accommodate people appropriately.

According to me Architecture in the next 100 years will look like a magical world with technologically designed buildings which use advanced methods of construction, new innovative designs with the merging of Eco-friendly sustainable designs which also are zero energy buildings and contribute to Green Architecture. I believe that the practice of architecture as required for the future is the requirement of the present.
